The ATLAS Task Force is a fictitious creation, based largely upon the Star Tre Online roleplaying game as well as the greater Star Trek Universe. This creation is loosely described as follows:
The ATLAS Task Force is a multirole command tasked with being an elite striking power, clandestine operations, but with a heavy hand in research and development as well. ATLAS maintains a high operational tempo when it comes to combat operations, keeping their most elite forces honed well in order to maintain themselves as the ultimate vanguard against any threats against planet Earth, the Sol star System, and the Human race. Although ATLAS operates under the charter of Section 31, they tend to make a clear distinction, seeing the "common" Section 31 operational assets as more dastardly and treacherous than righteous. ATLAS was initially founded as a high value research and development asset, but has grown from there to become a secretive, but perhaps most important asset of both humanity and the greater United Federation of Planets. Their ranks include leading scientists, ingenious engineers, and the most lethal of tacticians. All the while, leadership stands on a core belief of integrity to the very highest ideals one might envision. The task force hides buried in the bureaucracy of fleet and corps, but operates largely independent, yet currently with a fierce loyalty to their sponsors.
